A digital photographer named Greg McCown had been waiting years to capture to elements of nature not often seen together: a lightning strike with a rainbow. This was the last strike of the storm, so he was super lucky to get it. He named the photograph "Lucky Strike" and it is available on his website along with many other great photos of lightning.
One of these days when I have any funds not going towards my extremely not for profit zoo at home, I'm going to get a print of this. Rainbows are one of my favorite things in the universe and I am a huge fan of lightning. This is a great juxtaposition of something scary with something cheerful. It definitely pays to wait for the right shot, even in the middle of the storm.
